Solar and Lunar Eclipse.
An eclipse on earth happens when the sun, the earth and the moon are all in a line together. The moon moves in between the earth and the sun which blocks the suns light from the earth in the middle of the day, (this is called a Solar Eclipse) making it look like there is a ring of light in the darkened sky. A Lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes behind the earth which blocks the sun's rays from striking the moon turning it red.The two main eclipses seen from Earth are the solar and lunar eclipses, these two eclipses can be broken down into four different types. A total eclipse, a partial eclipse, an annular eclipse and a hybrid eclipse.
Eclipses have been known to happen on other planets, there can be around 4-7 eclipses that occur on earth during a year.
